BACP Student Counselling Placement-Supporting the Next Generation of Counsellors

At Rise Again Psychotherapy, we are committed to supporting the development of future counsellors by offering supervised student placements to counsellors in professional training.

Our current student counsellor is Sue Whybrow, who is undertaking a BACP-recognised Level 4 Diploma in Therapeutic Counselling and is working towards professional qualification.

As part of her training, Sue is completing supervised client hours within a safe, ethical and professionally supported environment.

About Sue

Sue is passionate about providing a warm, accepting and compassionate space where people feel heard without judgement. She works from a person-centred foundation, believing that every individual has the capacity for growth and healing when offered empathy, authenticity and unconditional positive regard.

She is committed to continual professional development and receives regular clinical supervision throughout her placement. Sue is also a Student Member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) and works in accordance with the BACP Ethical Framework.

How the Student Placement Works

All counselling provided by Sue forms part of her professional training and is carefully managed to ensure clients receive a safe and ethical service.

Clients can expect:

A confidential, respectful and non-judgemental counselling relationship.

Counselling delivered within the BACP Ethical Framework.

Regular clinical supervision with an experienced qualified supervisor.

Ongoing support from Rise Again Psychotherapy throughout the placement.

Appropriate referral if a client's needs fall outside the scope of a student placement.

Student placements are an essential part of counsellor training, enabling trainee counsellors to develop their skills while working safely with genuine clients under supervision. BACP recommends that placements are integrated into recognised training programmes and include supervised client work within an appropriate counselling setting.

Is Counselling with a Student Right for Me?

Many clients find working with a student counsellor to be an extremely positive experience. Student counsellors often bring enthusiasm, dedication and a genuine commitment to providing high-quality therapeutic support.

A student counsellor is suitable for many people seeking support with issues such as:

Anxiety and stress

Low mood

Bereavement and loss

Relationship difficulties

Self-esteem and confidence

Life transitions

Personal growth and self-understanding

Where a client presents with needs requiring more specialist or experienced intervention, an appropriate referral will always be discussed.

Confidentiality

Your privacy is extremely important. All counselling sessions remain confidential, subject to the usual ethical and legal limits relating to risk of serious harm, safeguarding or legal obligations.

As part of professional practice, Sue discusses her client work anonymously within clinical supervision. No identifying information is shared.

Fees

As Sue is completing a supervised professional placement, counselling is offered at a reduced rate, making therapy more accessible while supporting her professional development.

Please contact Rise Again Psychotherapy for current availability and fees.
